Tootsie’s Rescue made possible with the Help
of
Good Boy Dog Food
In
October 2011 Ms. Resemary Yates Cragg with the help and guidance of PAWS
successfully rescued Tootsie (skinny dog) and another dog named Brownie from the
hands of abusive owners in Binan, Laguna. Ms. Cragg has with her the proper
letter from PAWS and support from the Barangay of Binan to extend her concern
to the dog’s owner. It was heard that
the dog owner already made an attempt to sell of Tootsie to some dog meat
traders but since Tootsie is too skinny (bone and skin) due to owner’s
negligence in providing the right nurture and care. It was already evening when
the group met with the dog’s owner and gave out the letter pointing out such
neglect was already a violation of the animal welfare act, RA
8485 and that any attempt to sell them to dog meat traders would be a violation
of the anti-rabies act, RA 9482.
Tootsie bone and skin after the rescue
After which the dog owner released
Tootsie. Let me quote what Ms. Cragg said during that evening when she first
held Tootsie “I don't think I’ll ever forget the evening just a few days after our first
visit, when the family signed the necessary releases and I led Tootsie across
the road on a borrowed leash. He was as good as gold, though trembling a
little, and as I stroked him as I talked to him to reassure him that things
were going to get so much better, the feel of his bones sticking out through
his hairless skin was so pitiful. That
memory will stay with me, as will his touching trust despite such starvation
and neglect.”
Tootsie
was then given to a new home with new loving owner Ms Sheryl, the new owner is
doing a great job of loving Tootsie and giving her a new life. In order to
fully help Tootsie recover from the trauma and abuse Mr. Mon Abrenica of Good
Boy Dog Food decided to help Tootsie. It was on Oct 25 that the two dogs
started eating Good Boy Original Dog Food.
